Hi

I am new to this site and wonder if i could get some advice regarding to purchasing a mountain bike.

Looking to buy my first mountain bike and am considering purchasing a Hardrock Sport Disc 29er 2013 Mountain Bike.

Just wonder if any one thinks this is a good bike to start off on around the trails around essex, i currently live in brentwood and I have seen a few places locally to me.

Any advice grateful or other recomendations.

Hi mate, I'm fairly new to the forum as well but hey welcome dude!

I'd suggest you to try out a 29er before you buy it, not everyone quite like a big wheel. If you going for a first mtb, I'd suggest you to look for a good second hand, I mean good condition and good specs. It'll be a long search for the right one, but you'll get much more for your money and with time you can decide what you really want and what really suit your riding style.

Specialized's are generally over priced for what you get - not in all cases, but it tends to be the higher priced bikes that become better value for money.

Decathlon rockrider's are decent bikes for the money and tend to get decent reviews. have a look at them.

The Voodoo Hoodoo is around £500 and gets very good reviews, know of several people who are not disapointed with it. The only downside is its only available form Halfords and they are not renowned for correctly building up the bike. That said its only fitting peddles, wheels and handlebars to the bike so not a major job to check it all afterwards.
