Something unheard of has happened, first I've been complented on my sprinting ability on a 170mm travel full sus bike against a silly light XC bke along the towpath and now I've become an XC wippet, leaving people in my dust on the climbs.

Really is one of the best things I've upgraded on my bike and it's showing in my riding, I have energy to get up the hills and enough left over to bomb it down faster than before.

The road racing stuff will never happen, never been a fan of lycra, spd's and thin tyres.

Did have an issue with the post, it woblbled a bit on full compression, not sure why but it sorted itself once I raised it and compressed it again.

i think i may have previuosly posted that the seat appeared a little wobbly and put it down to the post, turns out i hadn't tighted then clamp onto the seat rails properly LOL

its spot on, had some grief with it at Bedgebury narrowed it down to cable routing and the cable had moved quite a bit so i need to cable tie it in place a bit firmer to stop it pulling etc.

Had an issue related to my dropper post just recently, during a torrential downpour at Bedgebury the post seemed to stick, it had always been a bit stiff , i faffed about with it but just got the ache and decided to ignore it, then by magic it was working of sorts again, not particularly smooth or responsive but it was working, i put it down to being a cheaper post (I.C.E v8 ) and covered in crud.

I cleaned it all off, threw lube at it etct and it was ok but not great then it stopped completely, i had adjusted the cable right out and tried everything to get more leverage on the remote to dislocate the pin so it would drop but it wasn't having any of it, i messaged the manufacturer in France to see where i could buy a new cable from in the hope that would solve the issue but the manufacturer said "send me your address and i'll send you a 2013 remote, it has a thicker cable"

The new remote arrived yesterday, its much better engineered so i put it on and.........nothing , the post was still stuck !

this is war, i hate it when things dont work properly so i pulled it all apart, and got intimate with everything ! cleaned each part up put it all back and......... nothing

with the cable unattached the seat moved up and down freely which had me stumped, but then it hit me, i screwed the cable locator bit into the post and the seat was stuck, loosened it off and the seat moved so i tightened it to the point that it wouldn't move then backed it off just a little until it had really smooth fast motion, happy days ! then it hit me...(not literally !)

Whilst at Bedgebury when it first stopped i thought it was because something may have came loose so i tightened everything right up - what a mistake to make ! by tightening up the cable locator it pushed the pin so far into the post that it couldn't retract enough to let the post drop it may be a design fault as to get it silky smooth and effortless it needs to be backed off a fair bit.

moral of this story - dont grab your nuts and twist them tight !

P.S if anyone has an I.C.E dropper and wants a remote, i have one LOL

I found out what the wobble was, it was the seat post not holding properly and the result it wouldn't stay where it was supposed to be and as I rode it got worse until I could push it down by hand all the way without having to release the locking mechanism via the remote.

So two rides in and I broke it.

It's back with me now having been sent for warrenty, everything is new except the outer post part, lets see how long this lasts me.

good write up, the image shows the 2103 version that has subtle differences to mine like the rubber boot being fixed by the seat mount and bottom collar.

That looks like you get what you pay for tbh jon

plus 90mm is not enough imo
