I know its a bit out of the realm of Essex/Herts but its only in Gravesend and looks like it may just be ok ? if a little too organised, there's a meeting with tour of the park (on foot  ) on the 18th Feb that's open to all.

The meeting will start at 11am on 18th February and is being held at my office building in Northfleet - I have attached directions. There is an optional tour of Cyclopark afterwards. As it is our first meeting the structure is pretty fluid but I am hoping to gather as many ideas as possible about how the group might run and potential ways it can help to enhance the park. I have a few volunteer roles in mind but I am hoping for lots more from the meeting.

they seem to be very open to help/suggestions so getting a pump track or some decent jumps combined into the trail(s) should be easy if enough people comment on them?? then hopefully the Hadleigh Farm legacy job will be easier to manipulate to what we really want as they will no doubt take a look at whats happening here ?

just thought i'd share, as someone shared it with me !

Got this through, i'm 99% certain that anyone can reply with their own email to get further info and accepted in to the opening event:

Quote:
Cyclopark Official Opening Event

We are delighted to invite you to the official opening of Cyclopark, the largest cycle park in Europe , on 27 May 2012 at 10am. The official opening will include a mass cycle ride with over 3,000 cyclists as part of the Skyride programme, supported by Sky.

As I’m sure you’ll know Cyclopark has been developed, funded and created through the support of many individuals and organisations. This official opening will celebrate what will be a fantastic facility for Kent , the south east and as the largest single Olympic legacy project in Kent , it will make a significant contribution to the regeneration of the Thames Gateway.

Cyclopark will provide a 1,500m2 pavilion with café, retail space, a health treatment facility, community rooms and training workshops, as well as a 3km road circuit, a national standard BMX track, 6km of mountain bike trails, a skate bowl, play area, and outdoor sports facilities.

I do hope you can attend what will be the culmination of all our efforts which, without your support, would not have been achieved. Further information on VIP parking and details of the actual ceremony will be sent nearer the time. I would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by email to Joanne.wigginton@kent.gov.uk

Yours sincerely

David Brazier

Chairman of the Cyclopark Trust

*bump/resurrection from the dead*

has anyone been down there to check this place out? apparently been open since May and is an all-weather track only requiring closure if snowed out...open till dusk....might be worth a look as an alternative to Epping?

Could be keen for November 24/25?

Same! a mate of mine suggested it the other day - could be worth a look in the absence of any dry alternative. no idea what it's like though...not even any good photos around...

Nice one! yeah I'm keen - less so for the BMX, but will be keen to learn some new skills.

Bmx track is the best place to learn new skills that help loads on the trail

the lack of decline helps you to focus on flow and pumping

Yeah definitely agree. I've spent a couple days at my local one in Hackney over the past couple of months, but not enough to get comfy in the air, or confident enough to rip through turns - definitely some extra time required.

shall we start up an away day thread for the 24th?
