Was out for an hour or so in Epping this pm, frozen ground and reasonably fast in the north. The best conditions have been for a while. I imagine early rides will be the best right now.

Warley was quite firm due to the frozen ground but started to soften up as the sun warmed the ground.

We were also in Epping on Sunday 11-13:30-ish. The biggest problem I had was going "off-piste" a few times due to the trails being hidden by leaves!!, Agree though, the earlier the better especially if the big freeze they are warning about is on it's way. Also went OTB at one point and ducked my head in a pond - that was pretty cold!

No - I was going to take the camera out (I have a cheapo one). I was running late though and just forgot about it. I would have posted though - my mates seemed quite concerned initially so I think it looked a lot worse than it actually was. I broke the visor off my helmet but that was all. I was just glad at the time that I didn't go further in! - I tucked in to roll, but didn't. I just stood up and all the water that had soaked into the beany that I was wearing under my lid came out and ran down my face.

That was the first of three "offs" yesterday - all in the space of only 9 miles - not a good record!

Epping south trails straight from HB are not good, so turned back and headed North, much better and was actually fun as the ground was still frozen in majority of places. Some Places under the canopy were gloppy but always an alternative route round tbh. Think it will be a no go area again if it rains and / or warms up a little. Snow and cold would = play time :)

Went out in south epping today expecting to find the trails frozen solid.

Was a mix of hard ground, slushy sections and a few gloopy bits and semi-frozen mud. The popular trails were gloopy and hard work, pedalling downhill just to keep going in places. Only the surfaces of the puddles were frozen with ice cold water underneath and although the lakes appeared frozen again it was only the surface. Wet leaves were a pain in places whilst in others they were frozen. Still had the summer tyres on, minion front and worn hr back and there was little slippage and grip due to the semi frozen conditions but there was just no flow whatsoever.

chicksands was running really well at the weekend.

Danbury xc trails were fun today (pheasant house and lingwood). A mix of frozen hard and fast trails with a few sections of mud flavoured slush puppy. Not a flavour I'd tried before!
