Bars were ace, much more stable going downhill with wider bars. I wouldn't ever go back now.

Im with you on that. Having been anti wide bars for yonks, 800mm is the way forward for me now!

Decided to go with Raceface Atlas AM bars instead of the FreeRide version.

Thought a good compromise (725mm & 3/4 inch rise) seeing as majority of my riding on the spesh will be AM. Curently have 1 1/2 inch raise and 660m width, so should be a noticeable differrence. Hope to have on before Danbury this weekend!

I run Spank Lounge 50 (710mm wide and 50mm rise) on the Orange and Sunline V1 (745mm wid with 20mm rise) on the Yeti. I didn't think I would like the 745 as they are the widest bars I've ever ridden with and don't think I'd want to go any wider but they are a nice stiff bar. The Spanks are great for DJing as they have a fair bit of flex but because of that don't feel as nice for 4x.

For DH I have heard great reports on the Renthal bars and Atherton Pro Bars!!

Bars were excellent. Wish I had done this ages ago, felt really good and can imagine it will be brill on the uplift days !!

Bit of getting used too for a short while and really needed to move the brakes/ changers, but left it to I got home.

Steve - Sorry mate you were right, AM's defo low rise and 20 mm (3/4 inch) , was confusing myself !!

I've now got 785mm wide bars and I'm not broad shoulder but for some reason wide bars feel right on a DH bike. I tried my cut down bars on the DH bike and the DH bars on the 4x bike and both felt out of place so swapped them back over.

Only probalme I have with the wide bars and even the cut down bars are the stupid narrow trees in Epping, I have to slow right down in fear of my skeleton jumping out my body.

Ive always been massivly anti wide on DH stuff, but after riding my 800's a few times Ive totally changed my mind.
Steerings easier/less twicthy and the backs of my arms dont ache the next day,
Also, it means your lungs can hold more air (apparantly) if you arms are wide appart.. The only time it feels odd is when Im in the air, but thats my 15 years of jumping with 550mm bars stuck in my head!
