Hi,

That time of the year when the renewal comes through the door and the insurer is trying to fleece you by bumping up the insurance by a whopping 50%. So I am going to a have a trawl though Confused.com and the like to see if i can get a better deal elsewhere but I am a bit confused myself.

In Feb 2010 I had a crash (lost control on ice) and made a claim when I had protected no claims (10 years +) . When an insurer then asks did I have and accident in the last 3 or 5 years do I have to declare it or not?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Yeh, you still gotta declare it. They trying to build profile. 50% increase! Who is your insurer?

Dont use comparing websites. You pay shit loads more.
Ring direct.

My bird got quoted 1100 on a Clio thru Admral on Go compare and 800 thru Admral on Comparethemarket. Work that out.
When she rung direct, she got quoted 600.

Just been through this, some good advice here, even slightly changing your job description can save a few quid.

Also, limiting the milage saves masses (assuming you dont do silly milage)
If you dont use it for work, make sure thats not on the list. Also, if you dont drive to work, make sure communting isnt down!

Also, use as many sites as you can to get quotes, then quote them the cheapest price.
