I have accounts with Interlink to deliver and collect them... the only thing I haven't added yet was the deposit!

All works out but there is very little money to be made... I was thinking about to justify buying one for myself.

Oh, and I have http://www.ExtremeCameraHire.co.uk registered and setup on my server... funny thing is I did this last night after wanting to hire one for the weekend!

I think its a great idea. I cant really see any problems either. Im a jeweller and lend a lot of very expensive peices out to photo shoots all over the world. When the jewellery goes out i take a credit card number and call the company that deals with my card transactions. They take a holding deposit to cover the full cost of the goods. If its not returned by an agreed date the money is automatically transfered into my account. Youll be suprised the lengths people go to, to return jewellery on time and in perfect condiotion when they know thell be charded for it.....

As GGG says might be worth talking to barclaycard merchant services as i doubt paypal will let you charge a card for a non return

I can see it being popular at say popular destinations, Alps, Whistler, etc where all sorts of stuff is available for hire, bikes, armour, etc..and may cams as well but havnt noticed any.

Ooo maybe chat to FLY up the uplift people about a colaboration for hiring a go-pro when you are using the uplift service

Think you need to sit down and write all these great suggestions down and then maybe work an a good business plan and a trip to your bank manager. I would be inclined to avoid investing your own money in this at first due to the risks but if you could develop a good plan I'm sure that bank would offer some cash, as the government want them to!
If you need any help with web sites, domains, payment systems or that sort of thing then feel free to let me know, it's what I do for my job.

no mate, just remember it coming up about hiring one when we did a wales trip last year before i bought one, just google gopro hire and they all come up. think theres always a market for it but stopping people ripping you off and keeping them maybe hard unless the deposit plus hire charge is close the the cameras value...

maybe along the lines of day hire at say a motocross track or karting circuit trackdays etc, and you download the sd card on to disk for them (unedited) at the end of the day. would mean you being onsite though so would need to hire a few out to make it worth your while..

Was only speaking about trying borrow a go pro for the up coming Wales trip ! But if I hire one from you for the weekend you realise you won't get it back until the end of the following week at best due to post, as I'd only be able to post it out on a Monday....
