Where do you guys normaly pick up chain rings

i need to change some on my gf's bike but there really is no need to spend a fortune as it is not heavily used.

normal black 8-9speed compatible would be fine

I just bought some from Superstar as a temporary measure as I'm planning on getting a new chainset. £37 for 3 but they're 4 hole 104 PCD.

What is a reasonable price for normal chain rings?

the prices seem to vary a lot

all my bikes are 1x9 so i have no point of reference

They do seem to be fairly expensive for what they are but some people choose Deore chainrings over SLX ones. A few grams heavier but seem to last longer. Middleburn Hardened are quiet good to and are sometimes cheaper that Shimano ones. Are you changing all the rings (3?). Is it the standard 22-32-44 setup?

Cool i will keep an eye on a couple of the sets on ebay while i confirm the BCD

its a 48-38-28 set up on a specialized VITA for Laura.

The current setup is heavily worn and while it still works at the mo as all components are as worn as each other i do want to change it out for fresh stuff.

I bought mine as Rob says as simple Deore as bullet-proof and cheap from CRC.

Yeah I'm having to do the full swap out. Did the cassette and chain but then found the rings lost it under a lot of power, nearly wrecking my knees, they have done many many miles though. So the plan is to use cheap Superstar rings that probably won't last long and hopefully get some cash together to switch to 2 x 10 XT or something.
