Saw a post on FB saying that Aston Hill were going to Fence off part at the top ? and for riders to be aware of the 3 lozenge rating on S2A and make a judgement call on if its some thing they can manage to ride ?

It doesn't matter what you ride

i think its a good idea tbh.

they are going to channel you so you have to ride the top step downs that way if you are too scared to do them then you know the rest is too much for you.

i know the first time i ran s2a it was a baptism of fire

the vids that were advertising the place made it look a lot tamer than it is.

Glad to hear stan came out of what sounds like a nasty crash ok.

I was reading an MBR article on North London riding and they describe Aston Hill as a trail centre with something for riders of all abilities which is BS you have to be fairly skilled to ride there.

just as a disclaimer i am not saying aston hill is dangerous it is a brilliant place to ride and i thoroughly enjoy it but you do have to have your eyes open to the potential dangers of riding steep terrain.

I thought it wasn't as bad, it is steep in places but i got stopped at the steps because of the accident but i enjoyed it all up til then the guy helping stan was asking people to walk down the steps...which was really hard tbh! then just got to roll the rest!
did think its in quite bad condition wont go back til its drier now!
it was my first time down and bloody up!

There is a red run which is a good XC loop and not very full on

Granted but the way it was worded was to suggest that anyone could ride there.
while the red is much tamer than the rest of the stuff there, i would still say it can be quite challenging for a fairly rookie rider.

There were few people trying S2A on hardtails and even open face helmets. i know its one of thoughs things (no one wants a nanny state) but some people need to think about what there doing out on the trails.

They will be removing the steps as they have had quite a few off there, although i have not done the steps yet, just sticking a chicken/less step set up should be fine

I think if they just took out the first one to give more room to straighten up from the corner they would be fine!............hope they sort the bumps out a bit tho! it was my first blast down there and was shocked at the state of it! really enjoyed the drops and jumps!
