Hello all, if you stay awake long enough i'll tell you how i ended up here.
I used to mountain bike many years ago when i was in my early twenties and had a Kona Koa, no suspension but very light, i lived in plymouth at the time and there were loads of beautiful off road trails and of course the moors nearby. I used to ride around 30 miles each trip all off road and usually twice a week. Now fast forward 15 years ( yes i am nearly 40) and i have just got rid of my last mountain bike which barely got used as i hated the full suspension so tomorrow i pick up a new hard tail and am hoping to rekindle my interest and find a few people to ride with. I gave up smoking a year ago and have put on a lot of weight since so could do with some company when riding to spur me on!!!! hope to get out on a ride soon and meet a few people.

Thanks for the welcomes, i am in SWF so danbury woods is my local spot, think i might have to go and explore hadleigh as well. I used to quite enjoy a ride along the river bank and cross country to burnham. quick beer or two ( any more and it was definitely a train ride home lol ) .
Picked the new bike up today, it's a 2012 Jamis Durango race hardtail, rockshox on the front (lockable) although with my 17 odd stone they dont lock very solid. Bought some clothing and realised i have moobs when i put the cycling top on :-(.
looking forward to getting out on it properly.

It looks like i can make it saturday if people are going to danbury, i'll quite happily be the entertainment, you can watch me crash and grimace in pain lol. Apparently i'm very predictable, i said to the mrs " are we doing anything saturday" she replied " no but i'm guessing you're going out on your bike" Result, in my book that is a pass issued !!
