I got a pair of flat exotic pedals(http://www.carboncycles.cc/?s=0&t=2&c=84&p=940&) which started producing a very annoying clicking noise.

This is the second pair with the same problem as the first ones got replaced under warranty but I can't be bothered again so I wanted to take them apart to see if they can be fixed.

The problem is than I can't unscrew the nut on the spindle inside the pedal. I thought that it would be standard 8mm socket key but it looks like its 9mm. However the 9mm standard socket will not fit through the opening.

I might need to find thinner socket key anyone knows where I can anything like this?
These pedals are very similar if not the same as the nukeproof neutron

If I can't get them fixed I'm thinking to get Shimano MX80 or the more expensive DMR Vaults.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Peter

I thought about that but not sure as the socket seems to be hardened steel.

Try a long reach 9mm they tend to have thinner walls than standard sockets failing that bag it in with a hammer, you'll unwind it out any way lol

Sent using the force...

Had a similar problem a while ago and managed to find a thinner socket. Just take the pedal into a hardware store/B&Q and see what they have.

Once that's off it's a case of just cleaning, regreasing and putting back together.

Thanks guys,

I went and bought long reach socket key which looked to be with slimmer walls.
What a waste of time it didn't fit the fckn hole.
Now I got an excellent excuse to order a pair of saints :)

Not sure on service but just put saints on my nomad - lovely stuff and as easy as all other shimano pedals to service

Done!! God that's cheap. Ordered Saints 2013 MX80 for 38 quid total price from Evans Cycles. Surprisingly much cheaper than CRC.
Now I can't wait for them to arrive. Anyone after crappy Exotics :)
