As peeps may know last Sunday I had my appendix out but due too it not being straight forward and me thinking it was a pulled muscle still in Hosp as part of my bowel had to be removed.
I've got 6-8 wks off a bike then only on the road for a while :( (never been a Roadie)
Thought it might be fun to post one of my pink gloves to a couple of riders and get photos of them at trail spots to amuse my recovery. Maybe moving them round forum members until I need them back later in the year
Please post interest Adam

Appendix in a jar would be better.
Speedy recovery ;-)

It did not happen like that laser over 4 1/2 hours of surgery rather than less than one .

Get well soon Adam. My brother had it similar to you last year. Was in hospital for a week and off work for a month, not nice. Love the pink glove idea though.

Out of interest Rob how long off the bike did your bro have? I'm generally keen to push myself but after a week in hospital I feel this is pretty serious and want to recover properly especially with young children at home my daughters only 4wks old.

I think it was at least 6 weeks. Even after that time he struggled with lack of strength for a while. It really takes a toll on you so don't rush things. Family is more important than your bike!

I would listen first to what your doctor say, then to your body. I am not sure how many cut you had for an appendix removal, but last November I donated a kidney to my son. I had 2 small scar ~4cm and a very large one on my belly. Doctors told me 3 months before any exercise. After 3 months I started going to the gym, but I still did not feel right.
After a few weeks at the gym, increasing the intensity I finally took the bike out, that was 5 months after the op, I could have done it before i guess but did not want to risk it (risk of hernia) and have a setback that would last even longer. I have not gone yet to somewhere like Thorndon or Danbury but I am now back probably to about 90/95% of my fitness.

Don't rush back, listen to your body

JC
