Had 4 cars broke into last night at Epping while doing night ride.
Cars parked in rhe oak car park.
They got repute spider eyes, gloves,iPhone, plus odd bits and pieces
The spider eyes are red if anyone hears some selling would you let me know.
Been riding Epping for a good few years now and never had this happen
but just starting using strava don't know if this is the problem but it just seems funny they know what time and date your there.
Anyway just thought I would let a few people know be careful

It will more than likely be by chance, but a car with a roof rack or bike carrier is an obvious target, maybe park opposite the pub ?

This has been going on for months, and nothing has been done about it. We got hit back in January (3 or 4 cars). Mine had the window smashed and my kit bag taken. Nothing of particular value, but my fav gloves and some other items of clothing that I really miss. They even took my CKs which weren't in my bag but where separately on the drivers seat. Still finding bits of glass in my car now. Next car will have laminate windows. I also know someone in a van who had the wires to the door cut by a knife or saw being passed through the hinge side gap, causing an expensive repair.

IMHO the pub is in (or the very least negligent) on this. They have done nothing about it and deny there is a problem, but it has happened repeatedly including recently at a wedding reception. You only have to look at the sketchy fxckers running the cafe there to think something is up. Has spolit night rides for me as worrying about car all the time, and mates wont change venue.

BTW whilst I am not sure it is responsible for this, strava is killing the secret nature of our trails. All of a sudden there are total idiots all over the most hidden s/track. Please dont record and publish our trails.

English check: our ≠ mine

and, I think, 20+years riding and maintaining EF gives me say

So, when you say 'our trails' I assume you mean they're my trails too. So, any trails there belong to everyone. Therefore any of the trails there are not 'secret'.

Good for you for riding Epping Forest (also known as 'The People's Forest') for 20 years! I've ridden there too! Isn't it wonderful?!? And you've maintained it too? Wow. Do you work for the Forestry Commission? Or the City of London Corporation?

Just because you stick a shovel into it doesn't give you a say in it.

Grow up boy. The trails are there for everyone to enjoy. If you want to keep them to yourself, then do that. I'm not as selfish or as righteous as you so i'd tell everyone.

Not bad going with your first post, eh? Where has your voice been for the last 20 years? We could do with you as an MP!
