How do i get out of this?

i usually only ride one of the weekend days and one evening during the week

But obviously when i do i am gone all day as we live in the flattest county in the country

And this was after having bought her flowers and made her dinner!

Apparently she was really happy when we got together because i wasn't into football but now it seems bikes is just as bad!

My wife got used to me going out each sunday now, all day in some cases so she now asks me beforehand where I'm going and to mark up the family calendar for days/weekends away for bike related activities... so I have to do the Dad Taxi service Friday night and Dad jobs on a Saturday... Also Sunday also happens to be my wife's day off from work....

My wife knew this years ago but did not mind when we were free and single. Had a few years off because of kids and gained 4st so wife is glad I'm back riding once a week and says I'm happier in myself :).
But on returning I only ride Danbury Xc which is 5 mins drive and only out for a couple of hours. I'm also a mature student so pay little into the house at the mo and with 3 under 5 kids I have to go gently :). I also sold my Enduro for £1500 and paid for a family holiday mega brownie points especially as I cried that day. (It was like selling a member of the family)
I used to have a tshirt that said "my girlfriend said if I ride my bike she will leave, I'll miss her"
Strange rant just try and find the balance dude :)

I would of sold one of the kids, you would of still of had two spare kids if you needed a kidney change!

I've had many relationships over the past few years since getting back in to bikeing, all of the ex's were attactied to me because of healthly lifestyle that i lead untill they found out how much time out on the bike (did not tell them about the money side :shh: or why i ended up doing so much over time  ) it took to keep in tip top condiction

Well Matt you would think that but currently maths teachers get a £10,000 golden handshake :) this is the clever bit I now my the missies a new fiesta she then feels guilty and I then get Told to spend 2k on a bike. But not being selfish I spend £1800 and upgrade on the quiet as I would have changed bits on the 2k bike anyway :)
Away days are a dream at the moment with the child situation so my 456 is perfect for where i ride but in two years they will be older and ill have a brand new bike to take to the alps and Wales

I found a complete change of attitude with my missus as soon as I signed up for events and the were in the calendar with a training plan.

Now I get most Weds nights and a few hours on the weekend without issue, and her and the kids come to the events and go and find something to do nearby and cheer me when I arrive back at the finish line.

Welcome to my world...

one eve during the week and about half a day at weekend if i'm lucky is enough not to push her indoors over the edge, but only just... away days need a little more planning so she's prepared, but she's sulky afterwards for a bit, i just have to carry on as if its no biggie and hope that wears off on her....

Mooh my boys love watching me race too. My start into fatherhood was bumpy so riding took a hit and I never got back too it :)

Week nights have never been an issue just my fitness just about to start riding Danbury Xc nights. But a ruptured appendix has put pay to that and commuting for the summer :(
