My giant 4 year old got some air at the pump track this weekend on his 16'' Islabike, admittedly just a bit of of rear wheel lift but #prouddad

Another vote for Ridgeback bikes here . My son is on his second an MX16 after his Halfords special and now an MX24. Both have been decent bikes and the MX16 survived a couple of spectacular offs :wtf:

A tip for getting them off stabilisers if it works with your bike is to slip a broom handle between the rear wheel stays, you can keep them stable while they get up a bit of speed and then lift the pole out when they are balanced.

I agree my son has a 2013 ridgeback mx20 terrain and its excellent i wanted a kona shred 2.0 but could not jusify the cost of it picking up a carrera detonate 24" for my eldest son today going to strip it down and build it up with better cranks sram x5 gear set and tectro hydrulic brakes air shock if i can find one cheap and a set of rock shox will be a good tool then.

Ollie's immaculate Ridgeback MX16 arrived today.. Looks like a top quality bike and sooo light.

Looking forward to him getting tons of use out of it :)

How was the Carrera Detonate? My son's got a Ridgeback MX24 and it's a cool bike but it's heavy and the kit is not too reliable - I can't seem to see why I can't simply take the bike and put better kit on it...

The detonate is not too bad for the price not done much to it as my son is happy running it in to the ground done the brakes changed them to tectro augia things i want a 165mm air shock fox or simalar to replace the shocking coil shock thats on it and i will change the triple to a single with chain device also by the time it's any good he would have out grown it.

The triple to a single is what I want to do to my sons MX24.

We got new and better twist shifters (they now work a treat) but I'd still like to;

1 - Change the triple for a double or single with chain device
2 - Upgrade / renew rear derailleur
2 - Put qr's on wheels

Ideally I want one of the Islabikes - I just can't justify the cost for a 24" bike...
