If it were me I'd buy a steel (every time for a ht!) Dialled alpine mk3 ! The new version of my old frame.

Yeah thought about the 456 but prefer the idea of shorter stays, might go for it if I see a bargain...

You sure? The medium is not a Small bike, especially with 150mm on it.....how tall are you?

Are you after only steel?

I have a SC chameleon which is a nice hardtail and I have run it with 140mm which was spot on. Seem to be a few around 2nd hand too.

For the truly class steel option I would go with a custom built Curtis - made exactly how you want it by onw of the best steel frame builders in the UK

6'1" and long legs. looking at the Cotic site they recommend large for over 6', but no not 100% sure maybe it would be ok for an 'out of the saddle' session but I want some thing to bridge the ridable/jump gap ie good for Danbury size jumps and also a little XC blast

I liked the idea of steel so not really though of the Chameleon, but nothing concrete yet... more options now??!!

Had a look at the Curtis site looks really good out of my budget unfortunately.

Top class frames apparently - but yes on the top end of any budget for a steel hardtail

Sorry, sorry, I know Im off topic but REALLY!!

My friend has a ti commencal absolut which had a retail price for the frame around 1600. He got it for about 500 second hand, he knew the 1st owner somehow and apparently it had been rideen once. Lucky fu*ker. What makes me laugh is he kitted it out with superstar stuff - not saying superstar isnt up to par by any means - just that on one hand you have the highest level and most expensive kit, and on the other hand reasonably low end, cheap kit.

Back on topic anyway - Ive got a dartmoor hornet frame coming atm - up to 160mm travel on that bad boy - worth taking a look?
