Got to go drop off a part for a car tonight and will be using the bike but was curious about a network of unmade roads near the garage (Mowatts - pound lane North Benfleet) and thought i could check them out on the way home, at lunch today i looked on google maps to see how extensive the roads were and saw a really long line of trees with a definite path leading into them and a path leading out of them at the other end, but how do i find out if there is a public footpath here rather than waiting to see if i get shot at or chased by dogs ?

the map is here

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=map+showing+public+footpath&hl=en&ll=51.582803,0.549703&spn=0.019573,0.03798&sll=51.582643,0.551677&sspn=0.019574,0.03798&t=h&z=15&lci=bike

the line of trees is right down the middle and stretches from harrow road at the top down and under the A130 looking at it to Rushbottom lane at the bottom, i'm not aware of any bridges here, but then i'm always in a car shooting along the road ??? this could be a corker of a strava segment, but more importantly a nice easy route for me this evening rather than dice with death along the A13 and Pound Lane !!

It shows as a Strava segment so should be OK:

Yeah, someone on Facebook pointed out that it was actually a graveled bridleway and there is a strava segment thats been used 4 times LOL

Guess its not going to be an undulating long assed row of continuous dirt jumps then, still it will save me a lot of grief tonight !

I once drove down it in my landrover in an attempt to beat rush hour traffic.. it's shown as a BOAT on my (out of date) OS map. Worked great but a bit of a squeeze past the traffic blocking bollards at the end so i didn't use it again.. but should be fine on a bike!
