Booked my cousin and I in for the uplift on 21/22 september. Going up on the friday and staying for 2 nights. Got the Premier Inn with brekkie at Merthyr for friday 20th/saturday 21st september for £155. Total cost £265.00 (plus lunch and evening meal and maybe a few beers too!).

Will prob start on the blue runs and progress onto the red ones. I want to do as many runs as i can each day and maybe do some runs twice in a row and time them to see how much better i do. Would Strava work up on these trails?

Distance from the Premier Inn to the country park entrance is less than a mile!

Anyone else is more than welcome to tag along.

There are 35 weekend passes still available at time of posting.

Cheers
Rob

No probs Jim. How are you feeling yourself? What do you think they'll say?

Well, what a great weekend! Rolled up at the park about 9.30am on saturday morning and realised we were not the early ones! The weather was misty and drizzly at the start of the day but it cleared later on and we got a bit of sun as well. The uplifts started at 10am and we caught the second one up and the last one up at 5.10pm. Managed to get 9 runs in as well as a lunch break! Be warned, three uplift vans turned into 1 uplift van while the others went to lunch. Not pleased as we could have got another couple of runs in. Blue runs were great, red runs were great, black runs were easy. Not!!! Actually we only done the Dai Hard black run. It was steep, rooty, rocky and muddy. At the end of the day, we went to wash our bikes down only to be told we couldn't use the hose (only one!!) as someone broke the others and they needed to wash the hire bikes down. We couldn't even use a bucket and brush!

Sunday was much the same, conditions were very similar and trails just as good. I was on my Rumblefish 29er which held up really well but is not very good for just going downhill. I wanted to hire a bike for the sunday (26er) but because i had no ID, it didn't happen. Shame.A 26er with 150mm travel would be just great here on the blue and reds. obviously Again at the end of the day we couldn't wash the bikes down. Out of water was the excuse. Again the bikes went on the roofrack and we took them to a garage in Merthyr where we used the car wash facilities.

Will be booking up again in the spring and will book a bike to go with it too!
