Can anyone give me advice on a good 16 inch or 16.5 inch bike that is full suspension, I ride at danbury and hadleigh but going to bike park wales in december hopefully. I have looked at hardtails and i like the specialized hardrock but im just checking there is nothing else i can get for my budget of around 600

Sorry to be the bearer of bad new but £600 really is not a lot to try and get a decent full sus trail bike, if you could stretch to £1000 even, you get so much a better/newer/better condition bike saving you money in the long run. Last year my brother was in a similar situation and ended up getting a second hand pitch, very good trail bike.

I would say get a hard tail for starters, you will learn so many more skills on a hard tail/how to be smoother and read the trail for the best lines. Anyway, cheap suspension does not work properly (you don't want to be riding a pogo stick after all). Look at something along the lines of a trail hard tail rather than an all out xc bike if you want to ride place like Danbury/chicksands as well as all day rides

What he ^^^^ said.

Although a HT is a bit punishing on a weekend in Wales (I've done it on my RockHopper) I rode a HT for nearly 2 years before building my own FS. You do learn so much on a HT and then you progress to a FS with a good skill-set behind you.
They're also so much fun and damn fast!!

If I was you I'd get a second hand Giant Trance - you need full bounce for Bike Park Wales and a 5" trail bike sounds like it would suit your needs and you could upgrade parts as you need to

As my dad wont let me spend 600 on a bike ( commencal meta 4.2) i have found a kona howler- i would be using it for danbury and bike park wales etc, and using my hardtail for cross country, rockshox sektor solo air 2013 forks, for about 500?
