Anyone sold any bars recently and tried to post them ?

I had some old Eastons kicking about only 640mm long, they sold on Ebay for £5 + £2.50 postage, so put em in tube and went to post office and they have recently changed their parcel sizes yet again and he cost of sending these short and light bars ?...£11.96 !!

There is a new limit for a medium parcel of 610mm length so anything over is deemed a large parcel and prices start at £11.96, even tried angling them to fit in medium box but nope !

Perhaps I should saw 30mm off and re-list them, but of course everyone wants wide bars these days :)

Collect Plus (as used by CRC returns also put a max length of 600mm) but looks like myHermes are ok and will cost £3.90.

Now watch Royal mail go further down the pan as everyone switches to cheaper altrnatives.

Well i did check the leaflet she gave me and it is correct so cant really expect them to accept it if the item is indeed quite a bit longer, ill just use myhermes, anyway she agreed with me that plenty of others offer far cheaper postage options these days.

So here I am reading the RM Sizing website and it states "For rolled and cylinder shaped items, the length of the item plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm, with the greatest dimension being no more than 90cm. Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels that measure up to 45cm in length and 8cm in diameter and do not exceed 2kg can be sent as small parcels."

http://www.royalmail.com/prices-2013

But upon reading this its not clear what this means..ggrr

Right phoned up the fuckers and its clear, you CAN send tubes upto 90cm length and that counts as a medium parcel !, the website isnt that clear about this and the booklet they gave me on Saturday makes no mention of tubes.

Alas they put a size limit of 60cm on stuff so you cant send wheels n bars, etc (although I dont know what happens if you want to return said items to CRC ?).

myHermes is similar though and you can send upto 120cm long :)
