 Post subject: Posting a shock.

Hi All,

I recently read an article on posting compressed shocks via Royal Mail.

Apparently they are prohibited and would be disposed of....

Is there any truth is this? if so do you have any reccomendations on who to use to post a shock?

I posted one via special delivery last week and it got there fine.

But I have also seen a few articles saying the same thing.

Nope, just returing a faulty shock to CRC.

They asked what it was worth and what it was. I said bike components.

I may have been lucky though!

CRC have a collection service don't they if you need to return stuff?

Yes it is true, post prohibited items at your own risk. If they find it they will destroy it and you won't get a refund. Compressed canisters and lithium batteries seem to be high on their list.

Just use an independant courier company like collect plus or the parcel2go.com website.

I would avoid collect+. The service is provided by Yodel, perhaps the worst courier company ever.
I use DPD/InterLink most of the time via http://www.interlinkdirect.co.uk/, including sending air forks last month. http://www.interlinkdirect.co.uk/prohibited-items.jsp. No problems so far. Parcel2go are not a delivery company themselves, they just hold accounts with all the main delivery companies and so can offer cheaper rates than going direct. You are still bound be the same terms of carriage though.

Collect÷ are great for returns in my experience. But I be only used them because they're the service of choice for nearly all the big online traders?

Its not that hard!

you fill in the online form, parcel it, they come and collect it from what ever address you provide!

I wouldn't tell them or just use a courier like myhermes then they won't query as long as its under weight

And if it's a CRC return as you said above, then Collect + is free, You get a receipt that you posted it and they don't ask what's in it..

Don't see why you wouldn't just use this service provided by CRC. I've returned stuff a few times and it's been absolutely fine.

Collect+ is ok as a return service. The contract is with the retailer and I doubt Yodel would want to mess them around and risk losing a contract. However, if you are posting a shock that you sold on here, Pinkbike or whatever I would not use any of the Yodel services. You might get lucky but when they screw you over be prepared for the worst customer service ever. There is a reason they got voted the worst: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/s ... vice-again
