LOL i went to my first ever spin class the other day, it was interesting to say the least, dolly bird trainer lady asked if there were 'new people;' i put my hand up and she came over to look at how i'd set the bike up, i explained i had the seat high enough so there was a slight bend on full extension of my leg and i had wound the resistance up to comfortable cadence level..... this is where it all went wrong ! ~She said 'oh you ride' and i replied 'yes' she asked if i could see here from where i was sat and i could and she then said something about 3 hand positions on the bars and mumbled something else, mentioned press ups and said follow this guy he comes regularly and pointed at the guy in front, i joked 'i'll try to stick behind and not overtake' then the music got cranked up and all hell broke loose... We started out riding in an upright position the music was loud this was good, peddling away quite happy then she blew on a whistle and everyone hunkered down and sped up, ok i'm game.. here we go, adjusted the resistance a little as my legs were spinning a bit too easily, then she blew again and everyone backed off, then again and people sped up, and then, well i'm not sure quite but she blew her whistle and everyone shot their arses over the back of the bikes and stretched right out, i burst out laughing and lost momentum, composed myself squatted down and carried on peddling, then 'peep' she blew again and everyone stood upright and peddled, so i followed, this i found uncomfortable and my legs were spinning out of control so wound the resistance up further, then 'peep' the bloody whistle went again and people started bobbing up and down, this almost had me crying with laughter, i couldn't concentrate and didnt partake, just kept on peddling, then she split the room into two halves and apparently we were going to have a race against each other, being the new boy i didnt want to let my side down so i composed myself, wound the resistance back a bit and got ready, on the 'PEEP' i sped up, it appears i had wound the resistance off too much and the sudden burst of speed sent my legs spinning way out of control, i stood up to try and get some composure which ruined my rhythm forcing one of my feet to pop out of the rat trap peddles sending me into this bizarre 'man on a bike hopping up and down flailing out of control' contortion, i ripped my other foot out of the other peddle and in doing so ripped the whole foot strap off, plonked my arse down on the seat glad to be almost back in control to look up and see the whole of the other side of the class watching me.....

i just put my head down and peddled the rest of the class in sheer embarrassment thinking fukit i'll just do my own thing....

booked in for next week though LOL.

Hi all,
I ride the hill at Ingreborne not long enough but fun. Marshes are good also the bit over the landfill takes the breath out of you.
Berwick / cely woods / Belhus are also challenging in there way .
Weather is the sod as it takes to long to dres etc .
Dogs need washing as well
Plenty of water to cross as well.
Need to step up as getting well rusty and habit forming.
Bob

I stumbled across Belhus woods the other weekend, it was very muddy/boggy though. Can you string a worthwhile loop together? Seemed very flat though. Are there any good bits?

Vw I'm going for a country lane surfaced bridle way ride on Sunday as Danbury is just destroying my bike and I'm losing fitness :(
Danbury drains well and as soon as the rain stops in 5 days most will be rideable again
