Hi all ,
RACE REPORT MSG round 1.

Well it started well at 5.00am my dogs started barking . I got up and they where having a good go at the front window.
I pulled the curtains and sshoc k a wolf was snarling through the window at the dogs.

Not best pleased to say the least .
I reconised it but no idea where it came from.
After having a playful run around managed to noose it and lead on it ( had a collar but no tag,
It was a huskie type dog.
it would not stop barking.
I got dressed and decided to take it for a walk to see if antbody was looking for it.
Scratching my head after 30 mins .
I rang the police 999......
Very helpful (NOT )
Gave the dog pound nr.(DOG WAS STILL BARKING LOUDILY )
Rang that nr and was a message swival.
Now got three dog giving it their best .
7.00 am and the neighbours are up moaning .
Fortunately somebody said he new the owner....
Took it there and said put atag on it (micro chips are useles at 5.00am in morning on a Sunday.
Well awake and ready to ride but far to early .
I still managed to make a couple hour drive into a 4 hour short cut.
Turned up and laid out my gear at the feed stn.
watched with herts and essex member the under 9s race . (he can tell that story )
decided to then have apractice ride as had a while before the start.
I enjoyed the chicken feathers flying when they got to the bomb holes ( turning round and going back.)
Only thing was that there was a hell of a lot of ruts...
even the berms had ruts in /round them.
One bomb hole had two what at the time felt like ditches at the bottom as you turned 90 degrees at the base.
long stretches of gravel and wind against you.
I was begining to sweat as the time was pressing for the start and I could not see it.
I then got to the finish line and the soil (ha) was like crushed up vegetation and so hard to grip it resistance
I neew there was fast finish for mme......

The start.
I could not believe the nrs.
All called up and the G/vets right at the back.
Lots of descussion of wiether we was going to be lapped before the start.

Now the times where I believed around 15 min a lap for the flyers so I thought i would be lapped before the forest .

I was more than happy to see two chappies with bikes up turned with punctures and chain break (would have helped but against the rules...... )

I did not stop as full tank in bladder an I used 3/4 of it by the finish.

I reacon I was doing well but run out of steam and over takers putting me in the rough .

I was 30 out 32 and i did three laps 1.42
I noticed that one of the chaps passed me when pushing up the hill finished only 2 min in front of me and really spoiled my day as if I had realised it i would have gone for the heart attack mode of my racing mind set.

all in all had yet another reaLLY GOOD FUN DAY OUT AND LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT RIOUND.

i reacon I got a point up and a lot not doing the next round so room for better position.
30 min a lap and the winners was doing 20 min and they all looked fit and age difference was big.
So back to training for me and double the cakes for good measure.
fat fighters Wed night so here goes for the Nationals.
Enough said for now
Well done to those that did it or tried.
Bob

Hey Bob. Good to see you yesterday and thanks for the coffee. My son was still upset in the car. Being a first time I think he felt a bit demoralised by seeing how quick the other kids were. All he knows is down the Danbury Common and walk back up to the top again. Having a 24" bike did not help, most 9-12s were riding on 26". Now that I have ordered the 14" ragley piglet I should hurry up and build his bike before he is put off. We are away during the next race so i have some time.

Great day out though but it did wind me up when I was served a kids sized bacon butty for 3.50....I mean proper kids size. I scoffed it in 2 bites!

Hi all , this will make you laugh.....

I have put the effort in came 30th bottom of the points all of ONE towards the serries but guess what -
NOT COUNTED. no licence.........

Been told that I had to join the sporty types.../...
Not likely paid up and lost point and happy to be continuing in the Regionals and Nationals...
Good ending but a warning to all get the right licence .( not a fishing / dog licence..... )

Peter,

if your first race they will give you the number board when you check into race reception. then keep this race number for all other races you do....

It be my first race of the 2014 MSG session as well.. only going to do the open category firstly, I also see they have upped the price to £18 for open 1hr and £22 for 2hr race...(if paid on line)
