I might be around myself on Saturday too, starting from near Loughton.

For getting there Sunday how does :

West Drayton->Monument district line

Ride to Liverpool street

Liverpool street->Chingford train

Ride to loughton

Loughton->epping central line

sound to get there without cycling too much (to save my little legs and energy, for the actual riding, of course!) My knowledge of London transport is pretty rubbish so if anyone can think of a better route :D

I tried using the 'I want to take my cycle on public transport' on the tfl journeyplanner but it hadn't the foggiest what to do and told me it couldn't find a route :(

Hello mate - once ur at chingford its a 20 min gentle spin up the fireroads to high beech with a bit of road at the end. No need to go to Loughton. Its about 2.8 miles in total

Ive done you a map - red is road blue is fireroad

1) Come out of the station and go right - take the second left to swing onto bury road
2) Once at the car park take the fire road heading into the forest
3) Take the first right off this fireroad onto another fire road
4) Go over the crossroads here and follow the track all the way to the end at point 5
5) Turn left onto the road - its a very minor narrow road
6) Once you pass the bikers tea hut on your right turn left onto the road
7) then 50 yards down the road...
8) ...turn right - that will take you all the way to...
9) Which is high beech

I used to do a route like that in reverse to ride the n downs- so I know its not far

Ive updated first post Paul, as it stands 8.30 start if doing the full 23miles, if others want to just do the loop (5miles) 8.30 or just the whipps ride 9.30. I think we need a cut off time for changes which i will now put in first post.

A Map and step by step :Cool :

I get email from Travel advice every Thursday on Weekend rail work and station closures. Worth signing up save disappointment.
This last month there been lots of work on Liverpool Street line this affects me short trip to Thorndon. No bikes on buses :roll:

I'm tempted by the loop before, just how techy is it? Half tempted to just say sod it and have a go,

Definately up for the main run too.

Just roots really chris, nothing manic just enough for you to concentrate I would say, and in a couple of places just take it steady if your not sure and all will be fine. As for rain will need to keep an eye on that, if it pisses down I wont be doing 23miles that`s for sure.Right i`m off out just fooked me shock pump up,typical I was only saying to Luke today it wont last forever lol.

I haven't been out for at least a couple of months due to the new arrival and am despeate to get out. Probably won't be this weekend as I have a kids party to go to in the afternoon and have a cold. I will try to get out next weekend.
How is Mac Luke, you heard from him?
