I ve been looking to get a light xc bike for around 2k but the choice for 27.5 wheels with 142x12 back end at this proce range seems to be sort of limited.

Has anyone got or ridden the crc vitus rapide 275 as it looks like a decent frame and package for the money?
Evans also have on sale the norco revolver 7.1 but they are not willing to swap the recon forks for at least the reba rl

I agree with "surfbum" build your own bike ,that way you get what you want..!!
You could easily build a bike for your 2k budget..

Thanks for opening my eyes. Definitely the best option would be diy. Will have a look at these chinese frames.
I had a look before for titanium frames but they are so bloody expensive.

I built an On-One Carbon 456 that should retail around £2k for just under £1k

And yes the 456 would take a 27.5 wheel...

Don't know if it helps, but Momentum Cycles in Brentwood have this on their website
2013 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp Carbon WAS £2300 NOW £1840
2013 Specialized Epic Comp Carbon WAS £3200 NOW £2560
2013 Specialized Camber Comp Carbon WAS £2500 NOW £2000
2013 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp Carbon WAS £3000 NOW £2400
They are all at the Comp level and are also all made from carbon. The FSR stumpy, Camber, and the Epic have been test rode a few times but the hardtail Stumpjumper has never been ridden.

Thanks guys.

On-one got nice frames but for my purpose the 456 evo is classified as trail frame with slacker head angle and no 142 spacing at the rear only 135 available as far as I can see from the website.

Yeah, I don't think they are selling the old carbon 456 now. I got my from ebay and had a right result with it - it was spotless.

I've got my short list down to two bikes now.

Scott Scale 710 2014 and Grand Canyon CF SL 7.9se.

Both the pretty much the same spec/price but I can't make my mind on the wheel size. The scott will not be avail for long i guess so I need to make my mind quickly.

The bike will be used only for amateur racing next year for events like MSG series etc.

Has anyone got 27.5 XC bike to share any personal impressions?

Are you really going to pay £2700 for that Scott ..??

Here is a bike that's serious good value for money.. Sorry it's not 650b though..
