Hi, planning to do some long distance routes including overnight stays some time next year:

This is a list of the ones I know:

1.- The Ridgeway (87 miles , 141km)
Following the Chilterns fron NW of London to west. Not interested in the double back.

Perfect link between the ridgeway and the Southdowns

3,- South Downs Way (100 miles, 160km)
From Winchester to Eastbourne

4.- London to Brighton or Brighton to London ( 72 miles, 117km

To complete the circle I thought of doing something like this: Eastbourne-Dover-Canterbury-London instead of Brighton to London off road following cycle lanes or part of the north downs

I could do some of that. Lon to Bighton was fun. South Downs has been on the radar for some time since I missed the BHF event this year. I know few lads would be up for it but maybe to Brighton only 1 day ride, easier to get back to London from in the evening.

I am riding Thames path late Jan or early Feb starting from London Bridge going west for 5hrs then back again. Maybe add that too to the list. Don't have a date yet but will put up a post near the time.

Probably SDW and RIdgeway are best avoided in winter. As soon as conditions improve I'll give them a go. Actually my plan is Ridgeway + TDL + SDW and return to London in a couple of days.

I don't know how muddy is London to Brighton at the moment.

South Downs definitely in a good weather. Beside cold wet and mud, it's pretty windy on the top of the hills. lon to Brighton should be Ok. Riding over North Downs could be the worse bit in terms of pace but no different to what what we see and ride elsewhere. Between the Downs should be ok. It's a long flat Downs Link we can follow for miles. Old railway path I think it is.
