I have had mine 3-5 years (i have multiple units) a new set of batteries was required this year after the first few rides they started to give less than 2 hrs, new improved batteries and one bigger pack for my main light now run at 4+ hours without issue.
i would now recommend getting the battery pack with individual cells when coming to replacement.

but search around a bit for the empty case, (£6) and a good set of cells (i bought trustfire ones which were crap at £1 each)
