With flights we need to make a choice

BA

There is no additional allowance for sporting equipment, but it can still be carried free of charge as part of your free checked baggage allowance. If it is in addition to your free checked allowance, you will need to pay extra bag charges.
23kg free
(up to 32kg at £30/US$50*)

So that would appear that it cost £30 to take your baggage up to 32kg which we will need

06:45 13 Aug 09:20 13 Aug Heathrow (London) Geneva
21:05 16 Aug 21:40 16 Aug Geneva Heathrow (London)

Flight cost £157.20 + £60 to take the bikes = £217.20

Easyjet

£18 each way with easyjet Payment of the additional fee increases your checked-in hold baggage allowance (including additional item) to a maximum weight of 32kg.

London Luton to Geneva

* Dep 13 August 2010 07:35
* Arr 13 August 2010 10:20
* Flight 2051
* 1 Adult

Geneva to London Luton

* Dep 16 August 2010 21:40
* Arr 16 August 2010 22:25
* Flight 2058
* 1 Adult

= £171.98

revised total

# Pay by Visa Debit Card: £190.48

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ill check out getting to Luton - its 10 miles close than heathrow

Re easyjet - it s a little confusing to see if you also have to pay a baggage charge and the extra of the bike tops that up - cant see any answer on the site or a contact to phone.

Happy to do Easyjet, would probably need to kip at yours at both ends for that one Jon.

I had the same confusion on the baggage and sport goods issue - can you email them or get a phone number some other way?

FYI... I was messing around with my flight booking back to the UK for sports equipment, as far as I can work out you will pay for hold baggage (normal gives you 20kg) + pay for sports equipment (takes it up to 32kg) easyjet has also followed Ryanair in charging you for paying, depending on how you pay. Those flights with baggage + sports + cc fees:

Pay by Visa Electron: £189.98
Pay by Visa Debit Card: £193.48
Pay by Credit Card: £198.23

I haven't had that confirmed from easyjet... but knowing them I'll be supprised if they let you have hold baggage for free!

No way of contacting easy jet at all mate - no numbers or email. Matt i think your right re the baggage but its just not clear.

Its tempting to just pay the extra 30 for the fact that you get to use t5 and BA are slightly less likely to screw you should things go wrong

Good news re the hotel - have contacted Pierre and he didn't seem to blink an eye about the early check in and late check out. 53 euros a night for breccy and dinner

Good find - just rang it. You need to book a hold bag then the bike allowance to get the full 32kg - thus the difference is £27

Happy either way then, for £30 BA may be the easier option - while we travel out earlier we also get back a bit earlier and you dont have to deal with the inconsistency of easyjet!!

What is the hotel cost chaps? Bed and breakfast?

I am going to be running a mono mini on the rear by the looks of it, do you think it will cook it?
