Seems to be a bit of interest is this nice route we have over in our side of Essex, bit featureless but good for a nice loooooooooooooooooooong ride end to end to stretch the legs. <<SEE HERE>>

Two choices really of start points.

1. Either start at Braintree Train station and go to Start Hill end by Stansted Airport then back again.

2. Or start at the Start Hill part and ride to Braintree and back. (parking either below railway bridge or just up road by Audi garage)

I could even throw in a nice tour around Knotley Country park and the Big hill their to climb  then back again onto the Flitch way.

Either start location is good for me. (free parking I believe at Braintree on a Sunday)

All in route is about 30+ miles.. should take a good 2hrs+ to complete and feel refreshed and invigorated afterwards

It has one100mtr or so buckboard section over a marshy swamp in Dunmow, with at least a 2ft step to leap off  at the end. Lots of flies and mossies if its hot, so protein supplements as you ride.

So who's in.

1. Chatman
2.

Dammit.

Can't believe I helped start the interest in the Flitch Way this morning and I'm away this weekend to miss the adrenalin-filled gnarl-fest that those taking part will enjoy.

For those new to the route, please be careful. Sometimes it gets very, very slightly damp if it rains.

Seriously, it's a really nice (long) run and done fast it's a good stamina-builder.

I'll be leaving from Braintree train station carpark about 9:30. Looking at doing the whole Flitch way route.

So any one else wanting to tag along look out for my blue Rav4 and I'll be on my brown Marin HT

Didn't know you guts were around Braintree! I frequently whizz up and down the bit between Rayne and Braintree station to and from work. Currently staying over at Willows Green until the house we're buying in Rayne completes. I could quite possibly join you at Rayne so probably 9:40am I guess?

Well did the ride this morning. First carpark by train station is actually 50p to park all Sunday, but could I find any change......anyhow parked up in another place and joined the flitch way. Stopped of at Rayne, waited 10 min or so, no one else came, so off I went.

Good run down to start hill in Stansted ( hate those pocksy gate things they have every so often) bit boggy in the Dunmow section, rest was nice. All in 33 miles and 2hrs 38mins.. Just dust off bike when get home... Nice

Yeah sorry I didn't make it. Permission was not granted:(. Just spend 30 minutes servicing the rear hub instead. Fun.

And I move to Dunmow (or Dumbo as we used to call it when I skated there) in2 weeks, just recovering from snapping my right foot off in oct, this could be my flitch-rehab route!
If you're still rocking it chatman, will see you there...
