I can't make this weekend unfortunately...
.... but I'm on a family trip in Dorset next weekend (13/14) and have just booked in for the uplift on Saturday 13th .... open invite if anyone fancies joining me ....
.... I'll provide a ride report in advance of your trip on 21st
So just back from a cool day at UK BP!
Positives
- the uplift is less than 3 minutes top to bottom
- there are 2 cool / challenging DH style (think steeper / rooty / tight corners / off camber / drops / path gap fun) top to bottom runs - called Tsubo and Devils Dyke
- 3 more freeride / jump trails (Wiggly woo, Ali's Finger and Ladder Alley) that all merge into one before the new big crossover bridge over the new uplift route and enter a newly built trail called Big Grin - loads of fun jumps (mainly booters) + gaps + the wall ride / wooden berm thing - really fun to ride once you get your speed right
- there's also a 4x / dual style track with loads of jumps
- I lost count of the number of runs I did but managed well over 20 runs in the day
- good bacon and egg roll at lunch
- dries quickly after rain
Negatives
- need a few more tracks to give it a bit more variety (but chatting to Paul and Wayne they'e got plenty of plans for more tracks over next year)
- runs are quite quick / short - c. 2-3 mins
- damn slippery after rain due to its Aston-Hill like chalk soil
Overall - really enjoyed it - definitely has Aston flavour to it but with more jumps and features - and with the fast uplift you can get Alpine levels of riding in a day with no waiting around for the uplift. Think this place will be amazing once they've finished building some more trails - but even now a really fun place to ride.
Probably just about on a par with FoD / Triscombe, and certainly better than Cwmcarn, and think it will surpass iboth of these once building is complete as there's more progression opportunities at UKBP
