TBH beardee we cant be sure as we haven't done it yet - Ive no idea if it needs armour but have assumed it - Im just basing that on what the geezer who runs it told us.. which was
* last weekend the group who did it descended 7000ft in a day
* bring the big bikes (when asked what bikes to take) min 160 id say?
* some of the runs go right down to the sea
* his kids use the Exmoor runs for training
http://video.mpora.com/watch/8Xb4EMU8K/ - the 14yo showed me a lesson in riding steep stuff when I was last there
+
* 500m is a lot of height to play with - the super morzine drops 600m and the plenny 500m
* aston drops 50m (ish) and takes me 3mins cruising
Now it may well be that its super mellow but I think we will all be really disappointed if it is.After riding Triscombe and foaming at the mouth at how close to alpine it was Id be amazed if on day 2 they took us to Exmoor's version of Hadleigh Castle!
Im not really qualified to give any advice and I cant give you a view of knarleyness by comparing it to other places. My tuppance is...Get comfy at going faster and faster on all the local rooty off camber steep tracks eg DH Aston / Winterfold and u will get a feel for when your ready to go into a day of DH blind. The need for a bit of armour usually comes from the speed everyone rides at rather than the savagness of the terrain.
Ramble over.
