Hey there i have a 2011 trek fuel ex5 that runs the standard brakes (avid juicy 3) i am having a minor problem with the front brake! the front disc rubs and makes a realy annoying noise! and then every time i recentre it you get 5 mins down the track and it started again! any ideas? not stoping me riding just very annoying and i go to scotland on the 10th september and would like it sorted before then lol. cheers tom

May not solve it, but i had a similar problem and it worked for me . . .

as its a avid brake there should be spacers between caliper and mount,

on each allen bolt, there should be 5 spacers, 4 will be thick, and 1 will be a thin washer, if that is the bottom one and in contact with the mount, move it so it touches the caliper, and the other 2 that pair together (dome out on one, and dome in on the other) touch the mount instead

worked for me, and only reason i can think of is as the washers were quite smooth, so could alow the claiper to slip under vibration

Try bleeding them, may have got air in the system and the pistons may not be going fully back in.

Try cleaning the discs with brake cleaner and check to see pads are not contaminated.

Pads are fine and cleaned them few times but will deffo try bleeding them up again

Have you tried the method of loosening off the calliper and so it just about moves pull the break on and then tighten the bolts so its centred when on rather than off - seems to work with my juicy 3s.

I used to try and get them perfect but as long as breaks don't make too much noise these days I resigned to a bit of noise some times.
