I’m selling my 2008 Specialized Enduro SL Expert. It's awesome, but I'm replacing one do-it-all bike with a big heavy downhill rig and a hardtail for XC. Full spec can be found
here, but the headlines are:
- Fantastic frame with 6” of rear travel, made out of lightweight M5 alloy stuff (frame size medium, I’m 6 foot and found it perfect)
- Absolutely awesome E150 Triple clamp forks. They’re incredibly light, and stiffer than any other XC fork out there, guaranteed. Adjustable travel (110-150mm), compression/rebound dials etc etc. The first batch in 2007 had a habit of falling apart, the 2008 and 2009 models are absolutely phenomenal, but the reputation has already been tarnished, which is why Specialized gave up on their foray into the world of suspension!
- AFR air shock, really nice and has high-speed compression and rebound adjustment
- DT Swiss wheelset
- Custom Avid Ultimate 7 hydraulic disc brakes (203mm rotor up front, 180mm rear)
- X9 shifters, X0 rear mech, Shimano LX Deore front mech
- Brand new Botranger lock-on grips fitted (never been used)
- DMR V12 Pedals
Basically Specialized took a fantastic all-mountain (/aggressive XC) frame, swathed it in lovely SRAM, Shimano, and Avid bits, and put what I reckon is one of the best all-rounder forks on the front.
It’s been very lightly used, the tyres on the bike are the original Specialized Eskars from 2008, and they still look pretty much brand new (photos to come)! There are a few paint chips, but no dents, dings, or damage to the frame, wheels, or any other components. Specification-wise, it's as it came new, the only additions are the lock-on grips and DMR pedals.
There was a manufacturing defect that meant the front rim started to fail at the weld, so the front wheel was completely re-build only 2 or 3 rides ago, using an identical brand new rim, and obviously no issues since then. The rear wheel also had a very slight wobble, not something that would bother me, but I wanted to sell it at its best, so it’s just been properly re-trued at the local bike shop.
It’s all in great condition and has been really well looked after (given a full service just before I bought it about a year ago). I’m asking for £1100, which will include me personally delivering it to your door, providing you throw in a cup of tea
If I've forgotten anything, please let me know. Photos will be up on Monday when I’ve got the rear wheel back
. It's not listed anywhere else at the moment as I'd prefer to sell to someone locally, but I'll be on pinkbike sometime next week.
